How the Score is Calculated
Germany Visa Approval Assessment Methodology
Our calculator analyzes 8 key factors that directly influence Germany embassy decisions. The database covers 82+ nationalities, each with an individual approval coefficient based on published visa statistics. Germany difficulty rating: Strict (4/5). Each factor carries an individual weight that reflects real-world consulate decision-making patterns.
How the Weighted Scoring System Works
Each factor is scored from 0 to 100 points based on your answer. That score is then multiplied by the factor's weight (importance percentage). Your final score is the sum of all weighted scores, adjusted for the country's difficulty level.
The 8 Factors Explained
Country Difficulty Adjustment
The final score is adjusted by Germany's strictness level (4/5). Countries with high strictness (4–5) apply an additional deduction to the final score, as their consulates impose stricter documentation and evidence requirements. Countries with low strictness (1–2) apply no additional deduction.
Result Categories
Important: The calculator is based on published visa statistics and expert experience from processing thousands of applications from the UAE. It does not guarantee an outcome — the final decision always rests with the consular officer. Use the result as a guide for preparing your documentation.

Germany Visa for UAE Residents — Overview
Germany — Europe's largest economy and the world's leading trade fair destination — is known for having the strictest visa requirements among all Schengen countries. The German Consulate General in Dubai processes all UAE visa applications and is thorough in verifying employment stability, financial proof, and travel purpose. Applications are submitted through VFS Global at Dubai (Wafi Mall) and Abu Dhabi (Corniche Plaza 2). Germany is also notable for requiring applications to start on the official VIDEX online portal (videx.diplo.de) — the only Schengen country with this mandatory digital step.
Who Needs a Germany Visa from UAE?
All non-Emirati UAE residents from visa-required nationalities require a Schengen visa for Germany. UAE nationals (Emirati passport holders) enter Germany visa-free. Russian nationals must present a biometric passport from January 1, 2026 — non-biometric Russian passports are no longer accepted. A valid UAE residence visa is mandatory to apply.
Germany's Difficulty Rating — The Strictest Schengen
Germany consistently rates as the most document-intensive Schengen visa process from the UAE. The Consulate General in Dubai verifies every document thoroughly: employment letters must match salary slips, bank statements must come from current (transactional) accounts only, and hotel bookings must show full addresses including postcode and phone number. The advantage: if your application is complete and consistent, approval rates are high. Incomplete applications are rejected outright — not put on hold for additional documents.
Types of Germany Visa Available from UAE
From the UAE, you can apply for several Germany visa categories at VFS Global:
Short-Stay Schengen Visa (Type C) — Tourism, Business, Family, Medical
Allows up to 90 days in any 180-day period across all 29 Schengen countries. Valid for: sightseeing (Berlin, Munich, Bavaria), business meetings and trade fairs (Hannover Messe, Bauma, Intersolar, Frankfurt Book Fair, Automechanika), family visits (with Verpflichtungserklärung), medical treatment at German hospitals, cultural events (Oktoberfest, Christmas markets), and sports events.
Multiple Entry Visa — Business Travellers
Germany grants multi-entry visas (1–5 years) to UAE residents with strong Schengen history and regular Germany travel. UAE-based companies with German subsidiaries or partnerships, trade fair exhibitors, and German-language professionals often qualify. State multi-entry request in cover letter with documented justification (German business partner letters, trade fair registrations, German affiliate documentation).
Long-Stay National Visa (Type D) — Work, Study, Family
For stays exceeding 90 days: studying at German universities (blocked account required — see below), working in Germany, family reunification, or learning German intensively. Applied through the German Embassy in Abu Dhabi directly (separate from VFS). Requires extensive additional documentation. Processing: 4–12 weeks (apply 3 months before start).
VIDEX Portal — Germany's Mandatory Online Application
Germany is the only Schengen country requiring applicants to complete their application form on the official VIDEX online portal (videx.diplo.de) BEFORE attending the VFS appointment. This generates a printout with a barcode that must be signed and presented at VFS. Applications arriving without a VIDEX-generated form are refused at the counter.
VIDEX Step-by-Step
Step 1: Go to videx.diplo.de — select "Short-term visa." Step 2: Enter personal data, travel details, accommodation, employment, and financial information. Step 3: Review and confirm — the system generates a PDF application form with a unique reference number. Step 4: Print and sign (wet ink signature required — digital signature not accepted). Step 5: Attach VIDEX form as the first document in your VFS submission. Tip: Complete VIDEX in English or German — other languages are not accepted.
Germany Visa Document Checklist — Official German Consulate Standard
The following checklist matches the official German Consulate General Dubai requirements (uae.diplo.de). Germany requires ALL listed documents — incomplete submissions are rejected at the counter.
Core Documents — All Applicants
VIDEX-generated application form (signed in wet ink). Passport: valid 3+ months beyond visa end date, not older than 10 years, minimum 2 blank pages, signed. TWO biometric photos: 3.5×4.5cm (NOT 3.5×3.5), white background, 70–80% face in frame, within 6 months. Photocopies: passport bio page, signature page, UAE residence visa, all previous Schengen visa pages (including expired). Travel insurance: minimum €30,000, all Schengen — credit card or bank-included insurance NOT accepted (dedicated policy required). Hotel booking with FULL details: property name, street address, city, postcode, phone number, booking reference, and guest name. Round-trip flight reservation. UAE residence visa and Emirates ID copies.
Employed Applicants
Employer letter (NOL — Arbeitgeberbescheinigung) on company letterhead, dated within 1 month of VFS. Must include: company full name and address, applicant's full name and passport number, position, monthly gross salary, employment start date, approved leave dates, return-to-work date, authorised signatory name with stamp. 3–6 months personal bank statements — CURRENT (transactional) account ONLY. 3 months salary slips.
Self-Employed / Business Owners
Valid UAE trade license (minimum 3 months). Company bank statements — 6 months. Personal bank statements (current account) — 3 months. Business cover letter with Germany-specific purpose (trade fair, client meetings, specific German company name). Trade fair registration confirmation if applicable (e.g., Hannover Messe badge confirmation).
Dependents / Housewives — OR Applicants Using Verpflichtungserklärung
Sponsor NOC addressed to German Consulate General. Sponsor 6-month current account bank statements. Sponsor salary certificate. Attested marriage certificate. Sponsor passport, UAE visa, Emirates ID copies. If the sponsor is a German resident hosting: Verpflichtungserklärung document required (see dedicated section below).
Minors (Under 18)
Birth certificate (+ English translation if not already in English). Both parents sign consent at VFS (or one parent with court-issued custody document). Parents' passport, UAE visa, and Emirates ID copies. If child travels alone or with one parent: notarised consent from non-travelling parent — must be translated into German or English.
Verpflichtungserklärung — Germany's Unique Hosting Document
If you are staying with friends or family in Germany instead of a hotel, your German host is legally required to obtain a Verpflichtungserklärung (formal obligation declaration). This is NOT a simple personal invitation letter — it is an official government document issued by the local Foreigners' Authority (Ausländerbehörde) in Germany.
What the Verpflichtungserklärung Means
By signing, your German host legally commits to bearing ALL costs of your stay: accommodation, food, healthcare, and return transport — even if you run into financial difficulties in Germany. The host must prove sufficient income to the Ausländerbehörde (typically demonstrated with payslips or bank statements). The document costs approximately €25–30 at the Ausländerbehörde and takes 1–3 weeks to process in Germany.
Impact on Your Financial Requirement
A valid Verpflichtungserklärung significantly reduces your personal bank balance requirement — since the host assumes legal financial responsibility. However, you should still show some personal funds (AED 5,000–8,000 minimum) as evidence of your general financial standing. The Consulate may still assess overall suitability. Plan the Verpflichtungserklärung at least 4 weeks before your VFS appointment to allow Germany-side processing time.
Germany Financial Requirements — Current Account Only
Germany has specific financial proof requirements that differ critically from other Schengen countries.
Daily Rate and Balance Requirements
Germany requires approximately €45/day with pre-paid hotel, or €100/day without pre-booked accommodation. For a 10-day Berlin trip with hotel: minimum €450 demonstrable funds; for 14 days without hotel: €1,400. Recommended UAE bank balance: AED 15,000+ as a closing balance for a standard 7–10 day trip. For extended stays or multiple destinations: AED 20,000–30,000.
CRITICAL: Current (Transactional) Account Only
Germany explicitly accepts ONLY statements from current (transactional/checking) accounts. The following are explicitly rejected: savings accounts, term deposits, fixed deposits, travel prepaid cards, credit card statements, and cash declarations. If your salary goes into a savings account, transfer it to a current account 3+ months before applying and submit the current account statements. This is the most common German visa rejection cause from UAE applicants.
What the Consulate Examines
Consistent monthly salary credits showing employment stability. No sudden large lump-sum deposits immediately before application. Balance trend over 3–6 months. Alignment between stated salary in employer letter and actual bank credits. Any large unexplained outflows are questioned.
Germany Visa Fees — 2026
Adults (12+): €90 (~AED 360). Children 6–11: €45 (~AED 180). Under 6: free. VFS service fee: AED 120. Application must start on VIDEX (videx.diplo.de). All fees non-refundable. Processing: 15 calendar days standard, up to 45 days for first-time applicants or complex cases. Oki Doki full service: from AED 1,500.
Important: Russian Passport Biometric Requirement (2026)
From January 1, 2026, the Federal Republic of Germany stopped accepting Russian non-biometric (old-style) passports for visa applications. Russian nationals residing in the UAE must present a valid biometric passport for all Germany visa categories — tourist, business, family, and transit. Non-biometric Russian passports will be returned unprocessed at the VFS counter. Russian nationals should ensure their biometric passport is valid well before applying. Note: this policy was introduced by Germany specifically — other Schengen countries may have their own positions on Russian passports. Oki Doki confirms current requirements for Russian passport holders before each application.
Application Process and Step-by-Step Timeline
Germany's application process is the most structured of all Schengen countries from the UAE.
Complete Process
Step 1: Complete VIDEX form at videx.diplo.de — print and sign. Step 2: Gather all documents per checklist. Step 3: Book VFS appointment at vfsglobal.com/germany/uae — pay service fee (~AED 120). Step 4: Attend VFS — bring originals of all documents; VFS checks completeness, collects biometrics. Step 5: German Consulate processes — tracks on VFS portal. Step 6: Collect passport from VFS or request courier delivery.
Apply Maximum 3 Months Before Travel
Germany applies the Schengen rule of not accepting applications more than 3 months before travel. If your trip is more than 90 days away, VFS will not accept the application. The ideal submission window: 6–8 weeks before departure (4 weeks before during quiet periods).
