When a Lithuania visa in Dubai is the correct route

Use Lithuania’s UAE channel if one of these branches is true:

1. Lithuania is the only Schengen country in the trip. Example: Dubai to Vilnius and back, with all nights in Lithuania.
2. Lithuania is the longest stay. Example: six nights in Vilnius, two nights in Riga and two nights in Warsaw.
3. Lithuania is the main purpose. Example: you are visiting family in Lithuania with host-side evidence, and a short side trip to another Schengen country is secondary.
4. No main destination can be determined and Lithuania is first entry. This is the fallback branch for genuinely equal itineraries, not a shortcut.

A short-stay Schengen Visa is an entry permit for a temporary visit of up to 90 days in any 180-day period in the Schengen Area European Commission. 1. If Lithuania is the only Schengen stop, apply through Lithuania.
2. If more than one Schengen country is involved, count nights first. If Lithuania has more nights than every other Schengen country, Lithuania should handle the file.
3. If the nights are close but one country has the clear purpose, use the country that the evidence makes central: host invitation, event, business meeting, family visit, medical treatment or another documented purpose.
4. If the stays are equal and no country is clearly main, use the first Schengen country entered. Lithuania is correct only if that first entry is Lithuania.
5. If Lithuania is only a minor stop, do not file through Lithuania just because the appointment seems easier. The route should follow the trip, not the slot.

First entry is not the same as main destination

A common UAE planning mistake is to treat the first airport in Europe as the country that must handle the visa. That is only true when no main destination can be determined. If you fly Dubai to Frankfurt and connect onward to Vilnius for the whole stay, Germany is not the main destination merely because the aircraft lands there first. If you spend five nights in Paris and two nights in Vilnius, France is normally the competent country, even if the final flight leaves from Lithuania.

Lithuania may still be the correct country while the purpose is wrong in the file. A tourist trip is usually supported by hotels, route details and a coherent travel itinerary. A private visit to friends or family in Lithuania needs host-side evidence. If the file says tourism but the real reason is a family visit, the documents may look incomplete. If the file says private visit but the itinerary is mostly hotels in another Schengen country, the routing may look inconsistent. Fix this before booking, not at the counter.

UAE submission: VFS intake and consular decision-making

Practically, VFS receives application-centre documents and fees for the Lithuania process, while the consular decision is separate from the centre. VFS states that an applicant may be invited to an interview at the Lithuanian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, that personal presence is mandatory if invited, and that the Embassy emails the interview details VFS Global Lithuania UAE. Do not choose Lithuania only because it looks convenient

A Schengen file should be routed by competence, not by the easiest appointment. If your actual trip is mainly France, Germany, Italy or another Schengen country, applying through Lithuania may create an avoidable inconsistency between the form, bookings and supporting evidence.
